Bet Watcher

Hi all, well its been a while since our last update but we hope it's been worth the wait! We have just launched the "Bet Watcher".

So what is it? Well, it seems that a lot of people places multiple bets across various events. For example, on 1 day, you might have bets on:

1) Soccer: Manchester United to Win, kick off 3pm
2) Horse Racing: My Will in the 3.35 at Cheltenham
3) Soccer: Everton v Villa 0-0 Correct Score, kick off 3pm

As these events start at roughly the same time, it can be difficult to keep track of the odds for each bet so this is why we have designed the Bet Watcher. You can add all your selections into one unit, and we will automatically update the average odd and the best odd for each!

You can enable this by clicking the Heart icon in the odds page toolbar, or if you begin to drag a selection it will automatically appear if it's not already open. Just drag the selections you want to follow into the Bet Watcher to add them, and drag them out of the unit to remove them.

You can also rename the selections in the Bet Watcher by double clicking the selection name. Also, a lot of people like to watch the scores on their favourite livescore site or trade the markets using an application such as Bet Angel, so we have added a pop up icon which spawns the Bet Watcher into its own small window so that you can drag it on top of any page or app that you use.

We hope you enjoy this feature and let us know what you think!

It's All About The Details

A couple of cool things for you today. We have released "Detailed" view, which is available from the odds page toolbar. When enabled, the detailed view will show you real-time updates of each bookmaker's overround (book percentage). This is an interesting figure, which shows you the margin available at each bookmaker, and it also throws up opportunities which is why we have placed the Best Odds percentage in the bottom right of the detailed view. If a combined overround is less than 100%, it is possible to get a guaranteed profit by backing every selection.

This "sure bet" percentage is presented to you in the form of the % profit you will make by backing the Best Odd for each selection. When a game goes in-running, there are some very interesting opportunities that present themselves!

Also in the detailed view, is the average odd calculation at the the bottom, which acts as a useful reference tool to determine the value of the odd(s) you are taking.

We hope you enjoy these new features!

Major Update

Ok, it's finally here! The release of all the exciting updates we have been working on for the past few months has arrived at last. There's a lot to talk about, so less of the waffle and more of the good bits:

Odds Page Toolbar
We have created an odds page toolbar which will allow you to quickly access important global functions which will apply to the odds units. These include:

Odds Formats
Different people are used to seeing different representation of betting odds, so we have added an odds format selector to the toolbar. This allows you to see all the odds in your chosen format, and if you are logged in, your chosen preference will be saved to your account. An interesting format here is "IP" which is the implied probability of each selection. One for the traders!

Extra Space
People with widescreen laptops can find that there's not enough space to play with in the odds area - especially if they want 5 different games visible on a busy Saturday. To help with this, we have added a Min/Max selector in the toolbar which allows you to create some extra page space.

Tool Tips
A lot of users have quite rightly requested that we explain things a bit better. There is a lot of stuff to get used to on the odds page, so we have developed an informative tool tip system which should help describe what each feature does. The tool tips come in 2 different colours, "yellow" - is for helpers, such as what will happen if you tick a box in the odds unit tools panel. "white" - is for information, such as details about a bookmaker or the jockey colours and info for a horse. If you find these are getting in the way, you can turn them off in the toolbar.

Scrolling Selections
Finally, in large markets such as Correct Score, there can be a lot of selections which results in odds units which are really wide and don't fit within the page. To counteract this, we have written a scroller which will allow you to choose a maximum number of selections to show at one time. You can easily scroll in the other selections when you need them - also, we automatically arrange the selections by their average odds, so the favourite will always be the leftmost when you open the odds unit.

So that's it! We hope you enjoy these new features and look forward to your feedback.

Best Odds

We realise its been a long time since our last post, and no, we haven't being suffering hangovers from New Year's Eve all this time - in fact we've been hard at work behind the scenes getting some exciting stuff ready for release.

The first of these is the Best Odds indicator. For each selection you can now easily see who is offering the top odds which really helps when playing in-running markets where the odds are changing all the time. It's interesting to see that the exchanges aren't always the top offerings, so there's some really good value out there if you look hard enough!

Over the next few weeks we will be releasing more features such as a selection scroller which allows you to cycle through large markets without taking up too much horizontal space. Also, we are introducing a tool tip style help interface which should get you used to all the features of the odds units. Another thing which has been requested a lot is a history feature which will allow you to profile how the odds progressed through each match after it has finished.

So, lots to look forward too. Expect more updates soon!

Christmas

Hi there, just a quick post to wish you all a merry Christmas! We are looking forward to the bumper Football on offer at the weekend with most English Premiership teams playing 2 games in 3 days. Most of these games are on UK TV too, so roll on Saturday!

Also, we have released some new features over the past few days. One that you may have noticed is the kick off countdown timer in the info area at the bottom of the odds units. This will help you keep track of the start times, as it's easy to lose track when you have 4 different games open at once!

Also, we now have a widget-style embeddable version of our odds units which you can include on your own Website(s). We will go into much greater detail soon, but if you would like to be one of the first to try it out, just drop us a mail.

New Sport - Rugby Union

We have just added our second sport in the form of Rugby Union! For now, we will just feature the Match Odds market, but will soon expand the market offerings into totals and asian handicaps. There are some exciting games in Rugby at the moment with their version of the European cup into the group stages and this makes for some interesting in-play betting.

Soon we will be adding Rugby League and Cricket, and if there are any other sports you would like to see just let us know.

Weird Wednesday

Its Champions League tonight, but it seems the bookies have something else to worry about! There are 4 down at the time of writing, Boylesports, Paddy Power, Sportingbet and Bet365. We are working on ensuring the odds are as up to date as possible for all tonight's games, but we will most probably have to remove the bookmakers from some events.

There is something good to come out of this though! It has given us an idea of a way we can monitor such a scenario automatically and adjust the markets accordingly. As always, we shall keep you up to date with the developments.

New Bookmaker - Extrabet

The start of the updates have arrived! We have fully integrated Extrabet into our odds platform. Extrabet are part of the IG group and offer some unique in-play features compared to the other traditional bookies. They allow you to trade out in-running, whether it's locking in a profit or cutting a loss, its definitely a useful feature for the more cautious bettor - so give them a try!

Coming Soon!

It's been a while since the last post, but that's because we have been working hard in the background to bring you a host of new features. We are very close to adding 2 new bookmakers to the system, and we are looking to branch out into new sporting (and reality) events.

Due to the nature of some sports, it makes it hard to just plug in to the existing architecture. For example rugby is predominantly based on a handicap system to level out the odds on mismatched teams. This would be easy to display before the game starts, but showing a dynamic handicap which reacts to the live game presents some enjoyable challenges for us.

Expect the new bookmakers to appear after this weekend, and the new sporting events to follow shortly after!

As always, if you have any questions or suggestions just send us an email or use the chat on the right.

Tools - Suspended Sound

Watching the odds all the way through the game might not be possible at times, but you want/need to be alerted when the market is suspended for whatever reason. Well you can do something about that - simply turn your speakers on, select a suitably annoying sound from the drop down list, and that noise will play as soon as the market has been suspended!

Tools - Keep Sort Order On Data Update

A nice and easy one this - when ticked, this setting will preserve a selection sort order when the odds are updated. So this means that the bookmakers will be automatically resorted if the new odds are no longer in the selected direction.

This allows you to easily see who is offering the best (or worst!) odds on a selection, even if the odds change around so that the previous top bookie is no longer offering the top odds.

Tools - Selections And Bookmakers

So, onto the next 2 features found in the tools section:

Selections
If you don't want to view all the selections in a market, you can choose what you want to see by using this select box. If you want to choose multiple selections, just hold down the Control button while you click. This way you can just concentrate on the selection(s) which you are involved in.

Bookmakers
Much like the selections section, you can choose which bookmakers you see. You might want to only show bookies who you have placed a bet with, and this can be easily achieved with a few clicks.

Remember to hit the Apply button after you have made your changes!

Tools Section - Refresh Rate

So as promised, i think it's time to give an overview of the odds unit's tool section. If you are not already familiar with it, you can access the tools section by clicking the cog icon in the title area of the odds unit. With this, every odds unit you open can be individually customised to perform how you want it to. At the moment we have 5 features to play with and over the next few posts i will detail each one. First up is: Refresh Rate.

You can alter the automatic refresh rate of the odds unit. This is the rate at which the odds unit will attempt to grab updated odds from our servers. By default, for an un-registered user, the odds unit will automatically refresh after 20 seconds. With a registered account you can set this to an even faster refresh rate.

If you want to apply this setting globally, so that it will always be the default setting for every new odds unit that is opened, you can do this from your "Account" section when you are logged in.

So How Are We Different?

Ok, so there are loads of odds comparison sites out there, some with a huge wealth of information, some are white labels of others, and some concentrate on one particular sport. The thing is, most of these sites are focused on monitoring the odds before the event starts - we will only feature games which will offer betting in-play. Our sole focus is on delivering fast, real-time odds to you once an event has started.

Another major difference with us is that we are the only comparison engine that allows you to view multiple markets across multiple events. You have full control over what you can view and how you view it. You can drag and drop the odds units to wherever you want, even across two screens if you have the correct setup.

If you register, we allow you to open up even more concurrent odds units, so you could easily watch the odds on various markets over several soccer games which have kicked off at the same time. Also, with so much going on, you might want an audible clue as to when the market is suspended. You can do this through the tools section of the odds unit, but more on these features in a later post.

As always email us or use the chat to send your feedback, questions and suggestions.

First Blog Post!

Hi All,

So it's taken a while, but we have finally installed a blog! We hope this will prove useful as we want to showcase, explain and inform you of all the things we are doing here at inrunningodds

There is a lot to talk about, but we shall keep this first post brief! We have been in beta for over 2 months now and there has already been a lot of change since version 1.0, in fact, the first version was never put live! This is because one of the most important things for us is to react to user feedback and incorporate your ideas into the application - this way we can ensure you have the best possible product at your disposal in order to succeed at your chosen betting discipline. It's for reasons like these why we are constantly updating the application, so your feedback is really important to us.

We have a live chat box on the right hand side of the blog page, please use this to comment on a post, or to ask questions related to the blog or the site in general. If you register, you get to have your own unique name on the chat, so this helps tell who's who!

So, I shall sign off for now, but will be back soon with more in-depth posts on our in-running betting application.
